and changes to the SAS Intelligence Platform deployment tools were
made in the second maintenance release for SAS 9.3:
SAS Download Manager No Longer Installed
For SAS 9.3, you no
longer install the SAS Download Manager. You simply download and run
it.
Capability to Subset SAS Software Orders
Both the SAS Download
Manager and the SAS Deployment Wizard enable you to subset—or
break up—your software order. This enables you to create significantly
smaller SAS Software Depots targeted for different sets of users based
on operating system, product type, and language.
SAS Middle Tier Supported on 64-Bit Systems Only
The SAS 9.3 middle tier
is supported only on 64-bit operating systems.
z/OS Deployment Enhancements
SAS 9.3 has enhanced
the deployment experience for the
z/OS platform through deployment
wizard enhancements and a software depot mover tool.
Capability to Build a Middle-Tier Configuration for Deployment
on Another Machine
Enhanced Support for Locale and Encoding
New SAS Uninstaller for Windows
SAS 9.3 has a new uninstaller
on Windows that enables you to uninstall multiple SAS 9.3 applications
in a single operation.
For more information, see Uninstall SAS on Windows.
New Text-Based Interface for SAS Deployment Tools
In the March 2012 release
of SAS 9.3, the SAS Deployment Wizard, SAS Deployment Manager, and
SAS Download Manager can be run on operating systems that do not have
windowing systems.
For more information, see Prerequisites for Creating a SAS Software Depot.
SAS Download Manager Dependencies on Linux
New Depot Checker Utility
In the March 2012 release
of SAS 9.3, SAS provides a utility with which you can verify the integrity
of your SAS Software Depot.
For more information, see Checking Your SAS Software Depot.
Hot Fixes Now Part of Your Initial SAS Installation
In the second maintenance
release for SAS 9.3, the SAS Download Manager automatically downloads
the necessary SAS hot fixes required by the SAS products in your initial
order. This enhancement makes the following possible:
-
Your SAS software is up-to-date
with hot fixes deemed critical by SAS Technical Support after your
initial deployment.
You avoid the multi-step
process of deploying software and then having to immediately update
it with hot fixes. The SAS Deployment Wizard applies hot fixes prior
to the configuration phase. You no longer have to reconfigure products
immediately after their initial configuration.

You no longer have
to reconfigure products immediately after their initial configuration.
-
You can force the download manager
to skip downloading any SAS hot fixes when downloading your SAS order.
To do this, include the switch - -
-nohotfix
in
the invocation line for the download manager. (Note that
-nohotfix
must
be preceded by two hyphens. These two hyphens indicate to the self-exactracting
script, that the
-nohotfix
switch is to be
passed to the download manager.)
SAS Hot Fixes Now Installed Using the Deployment Wizard
In the second maintenance
release for SAS 9.3, the SAS hot fix tool (sashf) has been deprecated.
The SAS Deployment Wizard is now used to install SAS hot fixes.
New Web Infrastructure Database Configuration Options
IPC Timeout Configuration Option for WebSphere

for WebSphere managed servers.
