For devices that are
not pen plotters, PENMOUNTS= can be used to indicate the number of
colors that can be displayed at one time. In this case, PENMOUNTS=
performs the same function as the MAXCOLORS device parameter except
that the value specified for MAXCOLORS includes the background color
and PENMOUNTS only refers to foreground colors. Thus, PENMOUNTS=4
implies MAXCOLORS=5.
PENMOUNTS= overrides
the value of the MAXCOLORS device parameter. You can specify MAXCOLORS=
in a GOPTIONS statement as a synonym for PENMOUNTS=.
