During installation
and setup, a metadata object is defined that represents the SAS server
tier in your environment. This is called the SAS Application Server.
A SAS Application Server is not an actual server that can execute
SAS code submitted by clients. Rather, it is a logical container for
a set of application server components, which do execute code. It
is identified as SASApp in the SAS Management Console interface. For
a SAS OLAP installation, a SAS Workspace Server and a SAS OLAP Server
are contained in the application server.
Note: For further information about
the SAS Application Server, see “Understanding the SAS Application
Server” in the
SAS Intelligence Platform: Application
Server Administration Guide.
